Aligning Tandem Axles When Repairing Trailer
Published 07/12/2019 >
Question:
I am repairing an Aluminum Trailer that was hit on the rear corner. What shall I be looking for to make sure the axles are in alignment with the trailer? What are the reference measuring points? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

When aligning tandem axles you simply want to make sure you are aligning them so they are square to the trailer frame. The easiest way to do this is with a simple measurement from the center of the trailer frame to the to the center of the wheel on both sides of the trailer. If that measurement is the same - or within a few fractions of an inch - then you know that you have them properly aligned straight to the frame of your trailer; you will want to do this with both of the tandem axles. This also means making sure you measure the front of your trailer frame so you know exactly where the center of it is.
