Expert Reply:
If the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Wiring Harness # HM42545 you referenced keeps blowing fuses in the vehicle then there is likely damaged wiring somewhere that's causing a short. I recommend inspecting the wiring on the harness for any exposed, pinched, or damaged areas that need to be replaced.
If it's only blowing a fuse when connected to the trailer you will want to do this with the trailer wiring, again looking for damaged or exposed sections that might be touching nearby wires or bare metal.
If all the wiring looks good take a look at the 4-Way on both your tow vehicle and the trailer. Inspect the pins for any debris or corrosion that needs to be cleaned out.
If this does not resolve the issue please let me know and we can continue to troubleshoot.
