Hey Jeff, thanks for reaching out. I went out to our warehouse and measured the Demco Spare Tire Mount # DM15851-76. From the upright post to the wheel mounting surface I measured 4-3/16". I edited a picture to help illustrate. Hope this helps!

I have used 2 of these mounts. They are very sturdy!! The first trailer I issued one on had a long frame so there was plenty of room to mount it. But the frame was thicker than the bolts provided so I had to get 4 longer bolts. NP The second trailer was a V front with not a lot of frame up front and I needed to mount it right up against the trailer body. The bolts were long enough but the position it was in left 2 of the bolts to far from the frame so I cut pieces off 3/4” pipe matching the frame to use as spacers so I could tighten the bolts without bending the mounting plates. Again NP Note: The one issue I have with this product is that they DON’T supply the 2 lugg nuts required to attach the tire to the mount! Kind of seems inconsiderate for what you pay for the mount!! Just saying…

Because of this question I was asked to provide a review. Don’t know why. Jesse seems to have answered it. But my review is that they (I bought two) have done the job pretty well. Because of the way they mount, you get a wiggle but that hasn’t been a problem to me.
