Does The Curt Echo C51180 Have To Be Installed Level

Question:

Does the unit position relative to level have any impact on its function? Does it operate as well in a vertical position as in a horizontal position. My 7-way plug is positioned at about 45 degrees below level.

Good news, the Curt Echo does not have to be mounted level for it to function properly. The 45 degree angle of your 7-way plug does not make a difference in the functionality because of the unit's triple-axis accelerometer. The accelerometer is able to sense the angle that the brake controller is plugged in at and still engages the trailer brakes effectively. I have attached a video of the Curt Echo being installed on a Toyota 4Runner that has a 7-way plug at an angle.
