Trailer Wiring Recommendation for 2017 BMW X5
Published 05/20/2019 >
Question:
I have another question regarding 2017 BMW X5 (not M). Your video shows in great detail the installation of hitch receiver on this model. But it has no mention of the need to trim the facia plastic. I am looking to have the hitch installed but do not want to change / trim the car parts. Can you please clarify if I really need to trim the facia? I am planning to use Draw Tite hitch.

For trailer wiring for your 2017 BMW X5 we have universal style wiring kits but the best option is the ZCI kit part # 119250KIT as it does not require any splicing to the vehicle wiring to install. Instead it uses sensors that you attach to the wires to get the correct signal.
We had the chance to install this kit on a similar 2015 X5 as yours, which I attached an install video to this page for you to check out.
