Hidden Design for a Clean, Factory Look

The EcoHitch Stealth trailer hitch is designed to be completely out of sight when you're not towing. The hitch's cross tube bolts onto your vehicle's frame, behind your rear bumper. No drilling or welding is required. Once installed, the cross tube will be completely concealed and only the receiver will be visible beneath your bumper. But unlike other hitches with hidden cross tubes, the Stealth goes one further. You can remove the receiver portion of the hitch for a completely out-of-sight setup. To mount the receiver, just insert it up into the access port that is built into the cross tube. Secure the receiver to the hitch with the supplied bolt and washers. When you're done towing, just remove the receiver portion to return your vehicle to its clean, factory appearance.

Eco-Friendly Material

With a combination of aerospace-grade aluminum, steel, and stainless steel, each EcoHitch is made of a strong metal alloy that will stand the test of time. The lightweight alloy is composed of recycled materials. Traditional steel hitch manufacturing can use coal or oil, which can contribute to harmful gas emissions. The EcoHitch's recycled materials limit the carbon footprint during manufacturing, so you get a sturdy trailer hitch while also helping the environment.

Rigorous Strength Testing Ensures Durability

This EcoHitch trailer hitch is tested for durability and sturdiness. Using Finite Elemental Analysis (FEA), individual points of stress on the hitch can be detected and remedied. Designers can accurately test the hitch to ensure that it will meet or exceed SAE J684 standards. The EcoHitch Stealth trailer hitch is carefully researched and strength tested for a durable, high-quality hitch that can resist damage while on the road.

2016 BMW X5

I kind of rushed my decision with this trailer hitch as I should have done more research for my 2017 X5. Having checked the specs of other hitch models after the fact, the 5000lbs tow limit is unimpressive. For another $[XX] I could have jumped to the Stealth Hitch which has 1000lbs more at 6000lbs. You can use it to tow a couple of trackbikes or other lighter weight for lower duty stuff but for towing cars this hitch will not do the job according to specs - which I don't understand why since there is a lot of metal in the construction. Better off with the Curt model or the Stealth hitch models.

2017 BMW X5

I had the Ecohitch Stealth hitch receiver installed on our 2017 BMW X5 right away by my independent BMW mechanic, who had no issues performing the task. I chose not to do it myself because installation was more involved than other hitches I've experienced (this one required removing the bumper system's fascia and replacing the factory cross member). I use the hitch only for a cargo platform. Together, they have exceeded my expectations for carrying inflatable kayaks (uninflated) and for moving my daughter about 1000 miles: they are plenty sturdy and very capable!

2015 BMW X5

I’ve been using the etrailer hitch behind my 2015 BMW X5 35d for about a month and it’s worked great. I’ve towed a handful of small trailers with it and regularly haul my dirtbike on a hitch rack and it is nice and sturdy. The cable loops are a little tricky to latch on to but that’s because they are well hidden. I like not having a big ugly hitch sticking out the bottom. Install was very straight forward and everything fit well.

Perfect Hitch for my BMW F15. The best part is the stealth mode when it's not being used. Highly recommend!

2013 BMW X5

Instructions aren’t quite correct for the 2013 BMW X5. You don’t need to take off the tail light assembly, there is only 1 screw behind the reflectors, there are 4 pop rivers in the fender wall and there are plastic caps on the top 2 posts of the impact bar on both sides that need to be removed to access the nuts. Also you need to cut out the underside of the underside bumper fascia a bit-where you cut is not seen unless you are under the car though.

Overall great product and easy install.

Other than that, great product and easy to install!

by:

Great product. Installation went easily and it is nice that no modification was needed to my SUVs bumper-

It’s heavy and arrived in a mashed up box that looked like it had been through battle. Packaging could be more robust to protect this heavy steel fabrication.

by:

Arrived on time. All parts were included and no damage during shipping.
I would order from these guys again.

Thanks

Scott

  • Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver Fit For 2016 BMW X5 40e Hybrid
We do have a trailer hitch receiver fit for your 2016 BMW X5 40e hybrid, but I checked with Stealth Hitches directly, and they do not have a fit for your specific year, make and model. What you can use instead is a hitch from EcoHitch, that does fit your '15 X5 40e, and also has a removable receiver just like the Stealth Hitches option. There are two different EcoHitch options, with the right one depending on if you have backup sensors or not on your '16 X5: - WITH Back-Up Sensors: EcoHitch...

  • Which EcoHitch Stealth Trailer Hitch Fits My 2014 BMW X5?
I have a different EcoHitch option for your 2014 BMW X5, but the # 306-X7293 you were looking at is designed for a 2017 - 2020 Toyota 86, 2013 - 2016 Scion FR-S, and the 2013 - 2020 Subaru BRZ. For your 2014 BMW X5 you will need to go with the EcoHitch Stealth Trailer Hitch # 306-X7265 if your vehicle does NOT have a backup sensor, or the # EH44FR if your vehicle DOES have a backup sensor. Both of these hitches have a completely removeable receiver so when not in use the hitch will be...

Assuming that your vehicle has the M Sport trim package but isn't the M or the M performance model, both the EcoHitch # EH44FR for vehicles with a back up sensor or # 306-X7265 for vehicles without the back up sensor and the Stealth # SH85VR would work great for your X5. If the 5000 lb capacity of the EcoHitch would accomplish your needs, there's really no reason not to go with the EcoHitch. Outside of this and a slight difference in appearance they are the same. You will need to choose the correct hitch based on whether or not your X5 is equipped with the backup sensor.

The EcoHitch Stealth Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7265 that you referenced does not require any fascia or bumper cutting on your 2013 BMW X5 for installation, and it's actually the only hitch available for this vehicle that doesn't. While you won't need to cut into the fascia, you will need to temporarily remove the bumper and permanently remove the impact structure for mounting. I recommend to use the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit part # 75600 which will allow you a 600 lb tongue weight but that is still probably not going to be enough for the 17-20 RV trailer considering once you have it loaded the tongue weight will be more.
