The best way to find out if your 2006 Mercury Mariner has a factory tow package is to have the dealership run the VIN number of your vehicle. They will be able to tell you all the installed factory options the vehicle has.
If you are trying to decide if the Hopkins Wiring Harness, part # 40455, will fit your Mariner, there is another way that might help you determine if you have the factory tow package. You can look at the rear of the vehicle for the tow package connector that would be located behind the rear bumper. It might be hidden so you will need to look hard. I am including a link to a video that will show the # 40455 wiring harness being installed on a Ford Escape (similar vehicle). It will show where the connector is located on the vehicle.
Some vehicles did have the tow package connector and still did not have the factory tow package, so the wiring was not completed to the front of the vehicle. So to be sure I would still recommend to contact the dealer and have them determine if you have the factory tow package or not.
If you do not have the tow package, you would need Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, part # 118551. I have included a link to the installation details for this harness for you to view and a video link of this harness being installed on a 2008 Ford Escape.
