Why Would Someone Need Redarc Battery Charger for Trailer Instead of Just Wire from Vehicle Battery

Question:

I think I understand the PURPOSE of the Redarc battery chargers but Im not 100 sure I understand the NEED for one? How is this solution different/better than running a large gauge wire from my tow vehicle batteries back to my 5th wheel batteries? Ive got two batteries in my Ram 3500 and two alternators. Thanks for helping me understand this!!

The Redarc charger part # 331-BCDC1225D is designed for a charging setup that might be a bit more complex than just running a single charge line back to a trailer battery. This method does work, but if the trailer battery also get a charge from a solar panel or you need to prioritize batteries getting charged, or have 12 volt inputs and/or 24 volt inputs this can handle all of that.
