Question:
I own the Vertex but have switched vehicles and am looking at a hitch for my 2014 Jetta Sportswagen TDI. Do you have any insight on how this hitch will work with the Vertex? I am unfamiliar with how these removable hitch receivers work on these hitches and didnt know if it would be deep enough for the Vertex. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

The EcoHitch part # 306-X7284 is a fit for the 2014 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen TDI. This particular EcoHitch is not designed with a removable hitch receiver. The hitch receiver is built into the hitch but it is still a concealed cross tube design. The only thing that is visible on the TDI is the 2 inch hitch receiver opening tube once installed. There is some fascia trimming required for the hitch receiver opening to fit through. The weight capacity of the hitch is 300 lbs of tongue weight on the hitch.
Since the EcoHitch has a 2 inch receiver, the Thule Vertex shank fits into the EcoHitch receiver. I contacted EcoHitch and they said as long as you stay under the 300 lb tongue weight limit of the hitch you can carry as many bikes as you need to on the Vertex. Keep in mind, that is including the 40 lb weight of the Vertex itself. Technically, you can carry up to 260 lbs of bikes on the Vertex rack with the EcoHitch for the TDI. You can use the same lock that came with the Vertex to lock the rack to the EcoHitch. If you need a new lock you can replace it with part # THSTL2.

Hello, the picture you have here is a sedan. Just double-checking the wagon model is compatible.
