What is involved installing Honda adapter to make tailgate work with hitch installed? Is this something average owner can install? What exactly is needed? Thank you

Honda offers a Power Liftgate Sensor Relocation Bracket as part # 08U59-TLA-100A for your 2019 Honda CR-V for when you install a hitch like the Draw Tite part # 76128 so that the hands free lift gate will still function properly. That said, we've also had a few customers come back and say they were still able to operate the hands free liftgate without the harness. They just had to be very specific with where they kick and it worked like normal.

If I were in your situation I would install the hitch first and then decide if the operation of the lift gate is suitable for you. You may find that the limited range of the sensors is just fine or you might want the added range the kit offers. The install shouldn't be too bad though. It will require removing the bumper fascia though.
