Question:
I just recently bought a 2017 Tundra 4.6L It did not come with a tow package and after reading many threads on here I bought a Tekonsha P3. I took off the panel and everything seems to be working fine. I am wondering if where I grounded the wire will work. In the attached photo you can see that I ground the wire to a little stub connected to the gas pedal and circled in yellow. The ground wire did not reach to where I saw others ground it over by the brake circled in red. Is where I grounded it going to cause any kind of problems? Thanks for the advice!

Expert Reply:
Although the stud you have the ground wire on your Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90195 connected to in your 2017 Toyota Tundra may still allow for the brake control to function properly, it appears that if there is paint underneath and it is not a direct part of the body/frame which is only going to cause problems down the road. I recommend extending the wire to the metal to metal ground you have circled in red with part # 12-1-1 and part # 05732-2.
