Installation of Draw-Tite Hitch # 76138 on 2016 Mazda CX-5

Updated 01/02/2019 | Published 12/31/2018

Question:

part of hitch in way to tighten rear nuts with torque wrench when trying to tighten the rearmost nuts on the hitch, part of the hitch about 4inch below is in the way and we cant get a straight line with the torque wrench to get them to proper setting. With the 6inch extender, it has to go in at an angle because of the lower part of the hitch. Anyone else experience this and have any advice to get them to proper tightness? 2016 Mazda CX-5

I've attached a video of the installation of the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 76138. In the video our installer uses a 6 inch extension but he does reference that you can use a swivel socket adapter or another option is a wobble extension. You can find either of these options at any home improvement store and at most auto parts stores as well. The installation instructions show the swivel socket also known as a universal joint socket as optional because it may or may not be required based on the specific tools used.
