Fascia Trimming Required for EcoHitch 306-X7284 Installation on 2012 Jetta Sportwagen TDI
Updated 12/31/2018 | Published 12/29/2018 >
Question:
Hi- Im considering item 306-X7284 EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2inch hitch for my 2012 Jetta Sportwagen TDI. I see in the notes that fascia trimming will be required and was hoping you could send me the instructions/diagram for the trimming before I purchase. I watched the installation video on Torklift Centrals website, but it looks like the trimming step was done separately. Thanks!

TorkLift's EcoHitch # 306-X7284 that fits your 2012 Jetta Sportwagen TDI will require fascia trimming as part of its overall installation. Please refer to the linked photo taken from the written instructions that will ship with the hitch. This shows the fascia trimming requirement.
This trimming will be done along with temporary removal of the bumper and lowering of the exhaust from its hangers. Since we have not had a local customer with the same car come in for an install we have not had the opportunity to make our own etrailer install video.
The video on the EcoHirtch website does not include every single step for the installation, as you noted, but the written instructions that will ship with the hitch do explain each part of the process in greater detail. You can also refer to the linked help article for tips on an easier hitch install.
