If I purchase a transmission cooler along with a hitch, would pulling a 2900 lb pontoon boat be possible?

I took a look at the online version of the owner's manual for your 2015 Cadillac SRX and it states that if you do not have the factory trailering package then the SRX has a maximum towing capacity of 2,500 pounds. With the factory trailering package the capacity increases to 3,500 pounds.
I wasn't able to determine what exactly is included with the factory tow package but I can say that installing aftermarket enhancement parts like a transmission cooler will not increase the towing capacity of your SRX as listed in the manual. You will still need to adhere to the manual's listings to ensure safety and remain compliant with the vehicle manufacturer's warranty.
If your Cadillac SRX does not have the factory trailering package then I cannot recommend towing a 2,900 pound pontoon boat.
If you do decide to tow a lighter trailer though you will still need a trailer hitch, for which I recommend the Curt Class III HItch # C13002 because it is the strongest unit available for your vehicle. I have attached an installation video that you can use for reference.
While the addition of a transmission cooler won't actually increase your vehicle's capacity, installing one is still a great idea to keep the transmission in good condition and improve your overall performance, especially when pulling a trailer. The Derale Series 8000 # D13503 is a really nice cooler that features 3/4 inch wide turbulator plates for efficient cooling.
To tow a trailer you will also need to add a wiring harness. For this the Curt Universal Hardwire Kit # C59236 will work perfectly if you don't have the factory tow package to provide you with a 4-Way connector to power a trailer's basic signal lights.
You will also need a ball mount and hitch ball to pull a trailer. I have attached a great article that explains how to choose the best one for your setup along with a link that will take you to our available selection.

What size trailer can I buy if my vehical has a towing capacity of 2500 lbs. I have a 2015 Caddillac srx and no factory towing package. What else will I need besides the tow bar to tow with as well.
