This Curt trailer hitch gives you a solid way to carry what you need. With a Class III rating, it’s built for real work and everyday towing. You get up to 5,000 lbs maximum gross trailer weight and 500 lbs maximum tongue weight, or up to 6,000 lbs GTW and 600 lbs TW when used with weight distribution. Chino,I used a jig saw with a fine blade. I used blue tape to protect the plastic and to give me an easier surface to make the cutout lines on. Drilled a 3/8 hole at both inner corners of the U and then cut between them. Finished up with a fine file. Try it, its not that hard. Good luck.

RobertI saw your photo of your SRX on the eTrailer website.Can you further explain how you notched out the cover on your SRX for the hitch as am going to do the same on my 2013 SRX and would appreciate any advice.i.e. Did you cut the cover into a left and right piece or were you able to just notch out a piece in the center, and any suggestions on type tool you used to notch it.Then how are you able to reattach the cover with the hitch now in the way?thnxGeorge

I used a small cutoff rotary Tool to notch out the cover. It took a couple of tries to get the right fit. It takes some effort to get the ball in the hitch. You can cut more of the cover to make it less of a pain to get the ball in. The less you cut the better it looks. Bob

How did you get hitch pin in? It appears that not enough side room to side pin in or do you remove cover each time you hook up trailer?Thanks,Larry

The amount of difficulty experienced when getting the hitch pin or lock in and out will depend on how the hitch was installed. Some folks want to retain the removable panel in the rear fascia, and trim it as close as possible to the receiver tube so most of it remains in place. If you completely remove the removable portion of the fascia, youll find it much easier to use a hitch pin or lock.

There is limited clearance between the brackets that go into the bumper support on the hitch and the hitch pin hole. This hitch will not accept locks with wide lock cylinders or barrel locks. We do have a hitch lock that is narrow on the end, Part # BD580400. This locking pin has a narrow end and will fit in hitch receiver part # C13002.

I really like the hitch. One thing I would like to suggest as an improvement to the product though. There is a bit of slop in the receiver when I have the ball pinned in. The shifting up and down of the trailer tongue causes the receiver to bang and is noisy and jerky. An improvement would be an adjustable set scew in the bottom of the receiver to tighten up that slop. I will be adding a set screw to mine to take care of this minor issue.
