Here's what I was able to find for error messages similar to what you listed for a Ram truck:

SERVICE TRAILER BRAKE SYSTEM: This message will display when there is a problem with the ITBC system. If this message continues over multiple ignition cycles, there is a problem with the ITBC system. Have the vehicle serviced.

First thing I would check though is for corrosion on the trailer wiring connector as that's the most common cause of brake controller issues. Clean the pins with sandpaper and see if that fixes the issue.
