Can You Drill Holes in a Thule Cargo Box to Move it Forward and Clear the Rear Hatch
Published 09/12/2018 >
Question:
The box is still in good shape. But problems installing....length interferes with rear hatch when raised...can I drill holes in box to move position forward? Some better system? Ive spoken to rack specialists and they look stumped.

Yes, you can drill new holes in your Thule Frontier Cargo Box in order to clear the rear hatch on your 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon. I also recommend using part # LT37467 to cover up the old holes so water doesn't get in. The only thing you need to be aware of when drilling new holes is how you load the cargo box. Since the front of the box is going to be moved further away from the crossbars you will just want to make sure you keep the heavier items towards the rear and centered on the crossbars.
