Can You Drill Holes in Thule Cargo Box to Fit Shorter Crossbars on 2016 Subaru Crosstrek

Question:
I purchased an older Thule cargo box and the mounting holes are over the mounting brackets for the crossbars. Can I drill holes closer together toward the center of roof box to attach the box? Side to side not front to back.

Yes, you can drill new holes in your Thule cargo box in order to mount this on your 2016 Subaru Crosstrek. When you drill the holes you need to make sure you maintain the correct spacing for your existing mounting hardware. After drilling new holes, I recommend sealing the old holes with # LT37467 Loctite RTV 598 High-Performance Silicone Gasket Maker.
