Question:

We would like to tow a car behind our 2004 Tioga W31 foot RV. A wrangler our preference is too heavy. We are wondering if the Jeep Patriot is a good option based on weight and safety to both vehicles? Thank you. We were unaware that the Patriot could be towed.

As long as the Jeep Patriot you choose has a manual transmission then it can be flat-towed with all four wheels on the ground but you will need to take a look in the owner's manual as there are usually other stipulations you must abide by. If you can let me know what year Jeep Patriot you will be buying I would be glad to make sure you get the correct parts needed to tow the vehicle which is a tow bar, base plate kit, safety cables, wiring harness, supplemental braking system, and possibly a high-low adapter.

For example, if you are looking at a 2017 Jeep Patriot with a manual transmission then I recommend the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit part # BX1130 with the Blue Ox Alpha Tow Bar part # BX7380. I will however say that most Jeep Wranglers can be flat-towed with all four wheels down and they are generally much easier to do so as they require less parts.
