If you like a clean, factory-style look when you’re not towing, this kit keeps things tidy. The hidden design leaves no bulky brackets sticking out, and the removable arms twist right out when you’re done towing. Snap in the receiver covers to keep dirt and debris out of the sockets and keep the front end looking sharp.

No fumbling or tools needed—each arm slides into the receiver, rotates to lock, and secures with a simple pin. When it’s time to disconnect, pull the pin, twist again, and the arm comes free. It’s a quick, reliable way to get set up or packed up whether you’re in your driveway or at a campsite.

This base plate bolts directly to the chassis—no welding required. The sturdy steel design spreads towing forces evenly across the frame to help prevent stress on your suspension. It’s finished with a tough powder coat that stands up to rust and corrosion mile after mile.
You can pair this base plate with Blue Ox tow bars for a secure, proven connection. It’s also adaptable for use with Roadmaster tow bars using adapter RM-031 or RM-031-5, or with Demco models using adapter DM9523041 (each sold separately). The included mounting points make it easy to add an electrical connector bracket up front for tidy wiring management.
Installation is simple and direct—just bolt it up using the included mounting hardware. No welding means fewer tools and less hassle for a confident do-it-yourself install. With clear attachment points and an integrated design, it’s a solid weekend project that sets you up for dependable towing ahead.

I am glad you were able to get it installed with no issues and a little help from our video! What kind of coach are you pulling the Kia Soul with?

Its been two years since installation of the Blue Ox Baseplate. Since then, Ive flat towed the CRV from NJ to FL and back three separate times with many other shorter trips in between. Paired with a Blue Ox Tow Bar, the system has worked flawlessly since installation.

Thanks for the detailed review Chris, and the pointers! This will be most helpful to others. What was your favorite stop in those 7,000 miles? Where did you go, what did you see?

Follow up. Ive put about 8000 miles on the setup and its been great. A 34 ton suburban pulls nicely behind my Dutch star, and they dont have a steering lock so its nice not to have to retrieve keys when stopping for the night. I have used the safety cable attachment a few times for straight line pulls with a small shackle when working as a rally racing volunteer, its been fine but I wouldnt side pull on it.

It has been a good system. I would still give it 4 stars a year later just because it was a difficult job to install. Not for the faint of heart. So far have about 6k miles of towing with it. Would I do it again….Yes as it was worth the effort.
