Question:

Buying a camper that has 7 prong wiring harness for brakes. Wanting to know average cost to install necessary tow package to receive camper wiring on 2017 Lexus RX 450h?

For just the electrical side of things for your 2017 Lexus RX 450h we have the Tekonsha T-One # 118252 as long as you have the factory tow package. This gives you a 4-Way for the basic trailer light functions.

One you have installed the T-One harness the next step is to install a 7-Way. For this we have the Upgraded Wiring Kit # ETBC7L. This includes everything that you need for a fully functioning 7-Way and a brake controller.

Since the wiring on your RX 450h is a bit more complex than other vehicles we recommend using the Curt Echo # C51180. This brake controller actually installs a little differently than other brake controllers as it just plugs in directly to the 7-Way on your Lexus and the adjustments are made through an app on your Apple/Android phone.

Typically we would recommend going with a brake controller like the Prodigy P3 # 90195 but since the cold side of the stop light switch is really hard to find it is just easier to use the RF and you don't have to worry about messing up any wiring on your vehicle.

You also need a trailer hitch like the Curt # C13282 and a ball mount, hitch ball, and pin and clip to finish your towing setup. I recommend the Curt ball mount kit # C45036 but you will need to check out the linked article on ball mounts to ensure that the 2" drop is correct for your application.

Attached are some review videos and helpful articles to assist you in with the various installations. You can determine the cost by adding all of the needed items into your shopping cart but if you aren't comfortable with performing these installations you also need to keep in mind that a shop will charge for labor.
