Due to the MX (Multi-Plexed) wiring system on your 2008 Rabbit, you will need the Tekonsha Wiring Kit, # 119250KIT, to add trailer wiring to your vehicle. This kit actually connects without splicing into your current wires, they just clip on and can read the signals through the wires.
On the 2008 VW Rabbit, you will need to find the circuit that contains 12-volt brake and taillight functions and does not have the turn function on that wire. Attach the red stop wire from the # 119250KIT to this circuit.
Ground the white wire and the brown wire from the # 119250KIT to a good ground location that is free of paint, primer, undercoating and corrosion.
An isolated circuit for turn signals is not available at the rear of the vehicle, so you will need to run both the yellow and green wire to the front of the vehicle along with the 12 volt power wire. Attach the yellow wire at the rear of the left side headlight assemblies turn signal circuit and the green wire to the right side turn signal wire on the right.
Finally, connect the 12-volt power wire to the positive post of the vehicle battery through the included inline fuse holder, then install the fuse in the holder.
