Installation of Curt Trailer Hitch on 2017 Chevy Spark

Published 05/24/2018

Question:

Looks to me that you can install the curt hitch without drilling/widening frame holes if you remove the rear bumper and the bolts through the hole in the frame, similar to the installation of the draw tite hitch. Is this correct? The curt to me looks a little more robust as far as mounting and construction, even though the load ratings are the same.

On your 2017 Chevy Spark, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11433 will require enlarging the rearmost hole because there is a plate at the bumper that won't allow access from the end according to the attached installation details. The Curt hitch is a robust hitch with a 200 lb tongue weight and a 2000 lb towing capacity. You won't have any trouble with the hitch as the vehicle is not rated for what the hitch can handle.

The Curt hitch will require the stabilization strap # 18050 for any accessory according to the warranty.
