For your 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan with the raised factory side rails, I recommend using the Thule WingBar System which is composed of part # TH711200 for the crossbars and part # TH710401 for the mounting feet. As you requested, this system contains silver crossbars that have an aero shape which will help to reduce wind drag and noise. The crossbars also mount atop the feet which will provide you with more clearance between the crossbar and roof in comparison to the systems that attach directly into the side of the mounting feet.

Another great feature of this system is that the crossbars have integrated channel mounts for use with channel mounted accessoires. This takes the clearance issue between the crossbars and roof completely out of the equation. If you would like to add locks to the above roof rack you can do so using part # TH450400.

Is the Malone Air Flow 2 a cheaper alternative that I can use? I like Thule, but was wondering about cheaper alternatives. I plan to purchase other products from your company for my vehicle.

Yes, the Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack part # MPG215 is a cost effective alternative to the above Thule AeroBlade Load Bar System. It is also very similar in that it has silver aero shaped crossbars that sit on top of the mounting feet. The great thing about this rack is that the locks are included and will not require an additional purchase. You will however forgo the quality of a Thule rack for this price point but nonetheless it is still a good option for you. I have attached a review video of this system for you as well.
