Have 2015 Equinox, trying to install hitch. I bought 12 1.75 x 40 bolts. Seemed to big. Weld nuts are clean and free of debrie. What size eould they be

For the hitches confirmed as a fit for your 2015 like the etrailer # e98865 the included bolts are size 1/2-13 x1.75 and M12x1.75x40 mm which is the same thread size as what you bought.

Factory weld nuts notoriously get rust/dirt in them which prevents bolts from easily threading into them.
