Since your 2002 Dodge Durango doesn't have the factory tow package the trailer wiring harnesses install by plugging in behind both tail lights. I recommend the Tekonsha, part # 118334 for a quality 4-way connector. I've linked a video showing the install on a 2003 that's the same process as yours. The connectors that plug in under the Durango's bumper are for vehicles equipped with the tow package.
If you also need a trailer hitch receier the Draw-Tite, part # 75081, is a confirmed fit.
