Dimensions of the Left Fender Clearance Trailer Light # BA44FNL For Direct Replacement

Question:
I was looking at this to replace a light that looks absolutely identical in every way to # BA44FNL but the physical measurements of the light to be replaced are 8 1/8 x 3 1/4. The dimensions given for the # BA44FNL are 8 1/2 x 3 7/8. Is there a smaller version available or do you think they are the same light with a difference in the way they are measured?

I went out to the warehouse and pulled one of the Left Fender Clearance Lights, # BA44FNL, to measure.
I get 8-1/4 inches overall length and 3-3/16 inches overall width. The manufacturer must have changed dimensions on these parts at some point.
I attached a photo and added dimensions to it so you can be sure we are measuring the same.
