Can a 2” ball be safely used on a 6K Equalizer Hitch. Ie: replacing the 2 15/16 ball with a 2” ball so it can be used on a trailer with a 2” coupler?

Yes, Equal-I-Zer actually makes a 2 inch hitch ball for use with their weight distribution systems which is part # EQ91-00-6080. This would work well with the part # EQ37060ET if that is the kit you have.
