Titan Chain Tire Chains - TCH72

Highlights

  • Custom Fit for Your Vehicle: Chains made to match your tire size for a snug fit
  • Quiet Ride on Ice or Snow: Polyolefin fabric grips slick roads without the noise or shake of chains.
  • Fast Slip-On Setup: Lightweight, stretchable design pulls over tires easily, even in deep snow.
  • Won’t Scratch Your Wheels: Soft material and elastic bands center snugly without marking rims.
  • Works With ABS & ESC: Compatible with modern stability systems for confident braking and control.
  • Compliant for Chain Laws: SAE Class S and DOT-approved for roads requiring traction devices.

Features to know about

Fighting Slick Winter Roads: Polyolefin Fabric Restores Tire Grip

On snowy or icy pavement, traction loss comes from a thin layer of melted water between the tire and the road. The ISSE Classic Snow Socks fix that by using thick, tightly woven polyolefin fabric that captures the water and creates dry friction between the tire and the surface. The snow then sticks to the sock’s fabric, adding even more grip so you can move confidently through ice or packed snow without sliding.

Want a Smooth, Quiet Ride in Winter Weather: Low-Profile Design Eliminates Vibration

Metal chains can shake, clatter, and rattle with every turn. These snow socks have a soft, even surface that runs silently and smoothly, with no vibration or banging against the wheel well. The low-profile design also meets SAE Class S clearance requirements, so they work even when space around your tires is tight.

Tired of Heavy, Bulky Chains: Lightweight Socks Pack Small and Go On Fast

When you just want something easy to stash in the trunk and simple to put on when the snow hits, these fit the bill. The flexible, stretchable fabric weighs very little and folds into a small tote bag for storage. Elastic bands help center the sock as you drive so it stays put on the tire. Even better, the soft material won’t scratch or damage your rims.

Need Something That Lasts More Than One Season: Durable Polyolefin Stands Up to Use

These aren’t flimsy covers you throw away after one trip. The heavy-duty polyolefin construction holds up against rough ice and compacted snow without tearing. They’re machine washable, so you can clean them and keep them ready to go season after season.

Staying Legal on Snow-Restricted Roads: DOT-Approved and Class S Compatible

Whether you’re heading into a chain-law zone or just want a backup traction device, these snow socks meet Department of Transportation requirements in all states. They’re SAE Class S compatible and safe for vehicles equipped with ABS and electronic stability control systems, giving you reliable traction that’s compliant and easy to carry for emergencies.

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. These chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

by:

Five star is for the service I received and the fact that the product arrived in a timely manner and fit as advertised. I tried them on the car and they were a piece of cake to install.

by:

Shipping arrived exactly when predicted.

by:

I have not used the product yet, but they look exactly as represented on the website. Small enough to keep in the trunk storage compartment through the winter. Etrailer had them shipped and delivered within 3 days. Always great service!

by:

I ordered these just to have on hand as we prepare for a winter trip to the southwest. I can't really testify as to how they work because I have yet to use them but etrailer is once again a pleasure to work with.

by:

This review is for the basic ordering of the product. We haven't needed to use the snow socks yet so can't comment on the product. We were able to order and receive the items with ease and in a timely fashion. We received what we ordered. YAY

by:

First, these are for a trip in January, so I have not used them yet, but what I can say at this point is that I'm very happy to have found something that will work on my Forester which has no clearance for chains or most cables. The Forester is great for snow, but nothing is great on black ice, so these will provide some added safety if needed. Etrailer's excellent online guidance led me to these. Thank you.

by:

Snow socks arrived in great condition. Actually hoping I don't have to use them, but nice to know I've got them in the event of a "snow or ice weather event"! Great service, product, and shipping.

by:

Wow. I was hoping these would work as reviewed and they did! Living on a hill, these socks saved me from sliding all the way home. My tires lost traction on a snowy hill; I pulled over and relatively quickly (and easily!) slipped the snow covers over my tires. Once on, I completed my drive down the snow covered road in control. My husband's going to get a pair (he was impressed how well they worked) and I plan to get these for my adult children. Well worth the cost and peace of mind knowing I have these in my car.

by:

I would like to say great but I have not needed them. Ran into snow several times last yr but my XC90 just plowed thru without a problem. I have a friend who used them last yr - took about 5 min to put them on and we had good traction in icy hardpack. I still keep them in the car just in case. Would not be without them.

by:

I haven't had a chance to use the product, but I did test the fit and they certainly install easy enough. I occasionally have to drive from the coast over the mountains to into the valley and during the winter we are required by law to carry chains or something similar on 2-wheel drive vehicles...and the storms can come seemingly out of nowhere in the high elevations...so now I am prepared. The construction of these is very good.

Not to mention, the customer service from etrailer was very good. Initially there was a slight problem with the delivery date, but they managed to rectify that without any problems. Thank you.

by:

Does not fit over the tire even though our tire size is listed.

by:

Purchased for the safety of traveling through mountains out west. Have to have it in slippery conditions or state patrol won’t let you proceed. Light to pack, easy stowage, relatively easy to install, but unlike chains is tough fabric. Unsure how effective they work as we did not have need to use. More of insurance to have than not.

by:

Not impressed with this product at all. If you are driving on snow, meaning absolutely no pavement or rough surface, they may be useful... but a short distance after the chain requirement point mine were shredded and all but useless.

by:

Watch the sizing folks. The web site said to get size 74 for our 225/60/18 tires but when they arrived, the size chart on the package said size 70 was needed. I hope this was fixed on the web site. etrailer was very good about understanding the problem and returning the original package, sending me a pre-paid return label for the UPS guy. I ordered the new ones after they received the originals and credited my account. Easily a five star rating if it were not for the step of returning and reordering.

We bought tire socks for our Subaru because the owners manual says NOT to use chains. But, when snowing in the mountains of Oregon, chains are sometimes required. We'll probably be fine without, being all wheel drive, but the police don't think so. There are hefty fines for driving without at least having chains in your possession.

by:

Terrible decision to get these. They were supposed to fit on my tires (based on the specs). When I needed them in a bad snowstorm, I could not go more than 20 MPH. They would slide off one side or the other. I was blocking traffic trying to get them to stay on. Had to nurse the car without these or chains to an auto shop and buy a set of cables that fit. Had to go over the I-80 Donner Summit from Truckee and would not have made it with these "snow socks". I would be happy to sell these once used socks for half of what I paid for them.

by:

Really great price and fast delivery.

by:

I live in Dallas, TX so we don’t get snow but ice and sleet and available a couple times a year. I put these on my Subaru Outback and was able to drive around the local neighborhood streets that were iced over. Stopping went well a and starting did not have any wheel spin.

by:

These things are great. So easy to put on & take off, gave me great traction going up & down steep snowy hill with small car & ordinary tires.

by:

Took over a year for a sufficiently snowy day to come, but these tire socks were quite straightforward to install. Didn't notice excessive slipping around while driving.

by:

by:

by:

Delivered on time.hope I never have to use them, if I do will update you on how they worked.

by:

I have not tried them yet but anxious to do it. The fabric is nice and heavy and they do not take up much space to store them in the trunk. Also, fast delivery!

by:

While I have not yet utilized the tire socks, the biggest reason to have them is simply to be compliant with the law where chains must be carried. For that purpose the product is perfect! Super light weight and far less of a hassle than dealing with steel cables or chains.

by:

Living in Arizona we don't have a lot of use for these when we do need them it is critical that they can go on easily and work. This is one of the few places I could send my tire size and have the unit match pacifically for my tires which gives me peace of mind knowing that when I do have to use them they will fit.

  • Tire Chains For 2025 Honda Pilot With 225/50R20 Tires
Hello Steve. Since you do not have the regular stock sized tires on the 2025 Honda Pilot they can be a little more difficult on finding the right fit. To give them a more secure fit, I recommend grabbing a set of Titan Chain Multi-Arm Rubber Tire Chain Adjuster for Light Trucks - 1 Pair # TCMA2. Since you mentioned...

  • Snow Chains for 2018 Volvo XC90 with 275/45r20 Tires
From what I was able to find with my research it looks like Volvo does not recommend chains on wheels larger than 19", so your 20" wheels are going to be slightly too large and using chains on them might potentially damage some of the steering or suspension components. I do recommend checking your vehicle's owner's manual to confirm this. If your manual states that chains can be used, the Titan # TC2228CAM are a confirmed fit for your tires and would be a good choice. You also may want...

According to your owners manual you should not use any tire chains or cables on the P255/50R20 tires.
