Both the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13591 and the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76028 are excellent choices for your 2017 Chevrolet Equinox and are confirmed to fit. There are advantages to both trailer hitch options.
When the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver is installed, it is pretty well hidden. The cross tube is barely visible. The Curt has a rounded design that fits with the contour of the vehicle. What's good about this hitch, is that it's almost flush with the bumper fascia. Which means you don't have to worry about hitting your legs or your shins on it when you're loading or unloading the back of the vehicle. Therefore a very popular choice of our customers here at etrailer.com.
The Draw-Tite has a higher maximum gross trailer weight up to 4,500 lbs. and maximum tongue weight up to 675lbs. However, I checked with Chevrolet and the towing capacity for the 2017 Chevy Equinox is up to 1,500lbs, (please check owners manual to verify). If the towing capacity of the vehicle is only up to 1500lbs then the Draw-Tite towing capacity is inconsequential between the two products.
The more quality choice would be the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13591. This receiver will get the job done, should be pretty well hidden, and according to our customers that reviewed the product it is not a difficult install.
