Mounting an Old Thule Mountaineer Cargo Box on 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan with Stow N Place Roof Rack

Question:

We just purchased a 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan with the new Stow n Place roof rack and need to know how to attach an Thule Mountaineer #669 purchased in 2000. The dealer said we can mount the box directly on the crossbars but they have no idea what mounting hardware to use. Their mopar brand uses some type of clamp system since the crossbars are not flat but sort of oval in shape thicker in the middle than at the edges. Thule fit guide says there is no solution. Is there any way to mount this perfectly good box on my new car?

If the width of the factory crossbars on the 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan Stow N Place roof rack is less than 3-1/4 inches in width and no thicker than 2 inches you should be able to use the Thule Replacement EasySnap Mounting Kit, part # TH05820. This is the mounting hardware that is used in the current Thule Mountaineer Cargo Box, part # TH669ES.

You will want to check the bottom of your older Thule Mountaineer cargo box that you have, to see if there are holes in it to accept the EasySnap mounting kit or if the mounting kit can be adapted to fit your cargo box.

I am including a link to a video of the Thule EasySnap mounting kit being used to attach a Thule cargo box to a vehicle. It shows how it attaches to the crossbars and might help you determine if the EasySnap kit can be used on your cargo box.
