Can I Custom Retrofit An Off-Brand Cargo Box Using Thule Quick Grip Mounts?

Question:

Can I retrofit an old Roof rack Cargo Box non-Thule, currently using U-bolts + metal plates by Thule Quick Grips # TH05738. If so what else might be needed to attach the box to racks mine are Thule Wingbars. Thanks

You are more than welcome to retrofit your older cargo box using the Thule Quick Grip Mounts # TH05738 but we have not used these clamps on anything but Thule boxes like the discontinued Atlantis and Force cargo boxes. I cannot guarantee the safety of your box being mounted with these clamps. If you are going to do this custom set up, just be sure to use rather large metal plates. The more surface area you are covering with the brackets the better. Make sure to cut holes in the metal bracket so the Quick Grip goes through the bracket and also make sure that the clamps fully wrap around your Thule Wingbars.
