Recommended Trailer Hitch for 2014 Honda CR-V
Question:
What trailer hitch kit do you recommend for a 2014 Honda CRV 2WD?

For your 2014 Honda CR-V 2WD, I highly recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75742. This Class III hitch is confirmed to fit your vehicle and will use existing holes in the CR-V's frame for a no-drill installation. It will provide you with a 2 inch receiver opening and has a 675 pound tongue weight capacity along with a 4,500 pound towing weight capacity. I also recommend checking the owner's manual for your vehicle for its specific capacities, as this will likely be the limiting factor. You will simply need to follow whichever capacity is lower - the vehicle's or the hitch's.
The reason that I recommend this Draw-Tite hitch over the Curt Class III that is also confirmed to fit your vehicle, is because unlike Curt, Draw-Tite does not require you to use additional stabilizing straps when attaching non-trailer loads (such as bike racks and cargo carriers).
I have attached an installation video on your 2014 Honda CR-V that you can also use for reference.
If you are looking to do any towing, I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118561. This custom-fit harness will install by connecting directly to the built-in ports located behind the driver and passenger side tail lights. Once installed, this will give you a 4-Way connector at the rear of your vehicle to connect with and power your trailer's signal lights. I have again attached an installation video that you can review.
To tow a trailer you will also need a ball mount. I have included a great article that explains how to choose the best one for towing your trailer level, along with a link that will take you to our available selection. I have attached a couple additional articles on trailer towing that you might also find helpful.
