Question:

hi I have a 2017 jeep wrangler 2dr recon edition. what base plate for a tow bar do I need? it looks to be the same front bumper as the hard rock. thanks

For your 2017 Jeep Wrangler Recon, I recommend the Roadmaster MX Base Plate Kit # 1444-3. This base plate kit is confirmed to fit your Jeep and features a nice, hidden bracket design and a black powder coat finish. All of the necessary hardware for installation is included.

In addition to the base plates, you will also need a tow bar, safety cable set, lighting solution, and a supplemental braking system to complete your flat towing setup.

For the tow bar, I recommend the Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar # RM-520. This tow bar has a 6,000 pound capacity and features a self-aligning design with extra-long telescoping arms that will allow for better maneuverability and easier towing. The tow bar is compatible with the above mentioned Roadmaster Base Plates. Then for safety cables you can use the 68 Inch Single Hook # RM-643.

For a lighting solution, I recommend the Hopkins Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit # HM56200. This custom harness will give your Jeep the required signal lights for flat towing without having to splice into its wiring. It will plug in quickly and easily to the connection points behind the Jeep's tail lights.

Then for a supplemental braking system, I highly recommend the Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System # BLU37TR. This proportional system will physically press down on the brake pedal in your Jeep Wrangler at the same time and with the same intensity that you apply to them in your RV. You will just need to add the Brake-Lite Relay # RM-88400 to prevent the Jeep's brake signal from overriding the turn signal from the RV when you apply the brakes during a turn.

Lastly, you will likely need a high-low adapter in order to keep your tow bar level.
