Review of Roadmaster Tow Bars RM-520

Today we'll be reviewing part number RM-520, this is the RoadMaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar System, rated at 6,000 lbs. The tow bar system is going to allow you to safely and effectively tow your vehicle behind your RV. This one is going to feature a quick-disconnect system that lets you quickly and easily mount and remove the tow bar on your own. Each arm is going to be a telescoping arm so it's going to make hooking up and disconnecting pretty simple and it's going to automatically center and lock as you drive ahead to prevent sway. There is a release tool available here at, sold separately, with RM-066. That's just going to help in unlocking binded arms when disconnecting. It's also going to come with the full-length steel crossbar that's going to provide increased strength and support. This right here is our storage latch that's going to allow the tow bar to automatically lock in place when folded toward the motor home, providing nice, secure storage. So when it's not connected to the tow vehicle, these arms actually squeeze together and they can be raised up to a 90-degree angle to sit parallel with the back of your RV or motor home. And that latches, there's a spring loaded latch that's going to allow you to move the arms back down into a connect position. Here on the telescoping arms is going to feature a stainless steel inner arm on each arm, so that construction is just going to allows for a smoother operation and it's also going to provide a lot of protection against rust and corrosion. The entire system has a really nice high-tech powder coated finish so its going to provide additional durability. This portion is here is going to be the portion that slides into the 2" x 2" trailer hitch receiver. It comes with the 5/8" pin and clip, so that's awesome to have. This is going to give us a capacity of 6,000 lbs.

It's going to be compatible with all Roadmaster vehicle-specific base plates - EZ, MS, MX, XL and Standard. Its going to come with all the mounting hardware you need to get this crossbar mounted to the vehicle that you're going to be towing. Real quick, I just want to show you how to disconnect the arms. All you got to do is lift up on the clip, pull it out of the pin, that's going to release the arm. You can see here how this portion is going to pivot, allowing disconnect and connecting very easy. The telescoping arms when fully extended they lock in the place, so the only way to disengage that locked position is to push in on this button, and then you can bring your arms back in. The other thing that I wanted to show is the actual bracket that's going to be mounted to the vehicle. Pretty simple design. It does have an indicator on it showing you which side of the bracket needs to be facing up and its also going to say what side of the cart goes on, so this one says up and driver side of car.

So it's really simple to know where everything goes. And then to reconnect the arm, all you got to do is telescope it out a little to get the holes to line up and you just take your pin, place it through, line up the holes and then insert the clip and fold it over to secure in place. Again, all the mounting hardware that you need is included. That's going to do it for our review of part number RM-520, this is the RoadMaster Falcon 2. .
