I have a 2017 Tacoma 4 wheel drive with towing package do I need a weight distribution hitch for a lance 1475? Tongue weight is under 300 lb trailer is 2600 dry Thanks

Whether or not you need a weight distribution hitch for you Lance 1475 depends on several things.
1. Is the trailer weight more than 50 percent of your vehicle's weight?
2. Is the rear of your tow vehicle sagging when the trailer is hooked up?
3. Is your trailer hitch designed to be used with weight distribution systems (will be listed on hitch/hitch sticker)?
4. Is your trailer prone to sway easily?

If you answed "yes" to some or all of these questions then you should seriously consider a weight distribution hitch.

To get the best weight distribution hitch, you will need to know the fully loaded and ready to tow tongue weight of your trailer. The weight of any gear stowed in the truck bed behind the rear truck axle should be included in your tongue weight. I have attached FAQ articles to give more information on how weight distribution works and how to determine the actual tongue weight of your trailer.

With the information you provided, I recommend the Equal-i-zer # EQ37060ET. This hitch provides a smooth ride and corrects sway with a steel-on-steel friction system. It is designed for maximum gross towing weight of 6,000 lbs and a tongue weight of 200-600 lbs. It has an easy set up and is made in the USA.

If you find out that your tongue weight is 600-1,000 lbs, I would go with the "big brother" of # EQ37060ET which is Equal-i-zer # EQ37100ET. It is a similar design and has a maximum gross towing weight of 10,000 lbs with a tongue weight of 600-1,000 lbs. I would also recommend a thin walled 1-7/8 inch socket like part # ALL643216 to use for installing the included hitch ball.
