Brake Controller and Wiring Recommendation for 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500
Published 08/31/2017 >
Question:
I have a 2014 Silverado without the factory integrated brake controller. Can I still install an under dash aftermarket brake controller preferably one of the proportional ones on my truck? In the bumper I do have both the 4 pin connectors and the round 7 pin hook ups but my truck does not have the tow package and in fact has the 3.08 rear gears. Thank you.

Yes, you can install a proportional brake controller in your 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 pretty easily actually.
All you need is the install harness part # 3016 which plugs into the port of your truck under the dash.
For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes. This will be the last brake controller you buy. It can easily be transferred to future vehicles as well.
I attached an install video that uses the # 3016 to install in a 2014 Silverado just like yours.
