Returning Customer, I need a ball like the Curt 2-5/16 inch Hitch Ball - 1-1/4inch Diameter x 2-5/8 inch Long Shank - Raw Finish - 30,000 lbs Item # C40085 for a gooseneck ball but this says class V. Will it work safely?

The Curt Hitch Ball # C40085 that you referenced is meant to fit a trailer hitch receiver ball mount. Due to its design it is not compatible with a gooseneck hitch.

We do have some gooseneck hitch ball options like the Hide-A-Goose Gooseneck Hitch Ball # 19309, the Replacement Hitch Ball for B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitches # BWGNXA2006, and the Curt Pop-In Ball # C60601. These are specific to certain gooseneck hitches though so you will need to make sure that you choose the correct one.
