Helpful Expert Reply:
For a transmission cooler that will work well for your 1998 Chevy K2500, I recommend using the Derale Series 7000 Tube-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/ Hose Barb Inlets part # D13105 as this is one of the largest, most efficient transmission coolers we offer for your vehicle. I recommend installing this transmission cooler in conjunction with the factory transmission cooler (if equipped). I also recommend placing the transmission cooler in front of your radiator behind the grill of the vehicle as this will allow for maximum efficiency. You will also want to use the Derale Radiator Adapter Fittings for GM part # D13018 for installation.
This kit with the separate adapter fitting will be all you need to install this transmission cooler on your vehicle and will work well to cool your vehicle's transmission fluid temperatures. You can expect anywhere from a 10-20 degree drop in fluid temperatures depending on airflow and ambient(outside) temperatures.
I have attached an installation video of the cooler installed on a 1999 Ford F-350 for you. This will give you a general view of how to install this cooler on a vehicle.
