Updated 11/11/2024 | Published 11/03/2024

Question:

I am looking for a below bed, 5th wheel hitch install kit for my 2000 F250. What are my options for that?

Hey Judah,

For below bed you would need to go with the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # BWGNRK1108 and then use either the fixed base Companion # BWRVK3500 or slider base Companion # BWRVK3400-5W depending on whether you have a long bed or short bed. If your bed is less than 8' then you'll want to go with the slider base to gain some additional turning clearance when making tight turns. This setup would also allow you to tow gooseneck trailers but removing the hitch and using the included gooseneck hitch ball.

I also recommend installing an in-bed 7-way # PK11893-11932 if you don't already have one to plug your trailer into.

Okay, thank you sir. I have an 8ft bed. Also, does Curt make a 5th wheel hitch that connects to a gooseneck ball?

@Judah Yes, Curt has the CrossWing # C32DR that can mount to the gooseneck hitch ball. I've attached a short video below where you can get an overview of how the hitch works and how to install it.

@KevinC The gooseneck install went smoothly. It was easy, and I did it all myself. I want to know what sets of helper bags I can use in conjunction with the hitch I just installed?

@Judah Hey, I see you already purchased the Air Lift # AL88393 and they're on their way to you, but those are unfortunately not a fit with a B&W hitch. Most of the air spring kits require a specific B&W or Reese hitch in order for both to be used together. If you have a 4WD model you could use the # AL88390. If you have a 2WD model then you'd need to switch to a jounce spring like the SumoSprings # SSR-114-54 or a leaf spring style enhancement like the SuperSprings # SSA22. These wouldn't interfere with the Turnoverball setup and would still provide you with some extra support for hauling. Let me know what you think and how much weight you think you'll be hauling and I can figure out which option would be the best for your intended use.
