Question:
I see that the total weight limit is 70 lbs. 35 lbs. per bike. I only want to carry one bike, but it weighs 50 lbs. Can I use the S64670? Please say yes!

I have a solution for you, but I can't recommend exceeding a manufacturer's stated per bike weight limit.
I instead recommend the Thule EasyFold XT, part # TH903202. This two bike rack has a per bike capacity of 65lbs and fits the same Class I and II hitches that the Swagman XC-2 does, with the addition of being able to carry two bikes of that size.
You can indeed carry a single bike on a 2-bike hitch. I recommend that you mount the bike in the rack that is closer to your vehicle and use a stabilizing strap like the Curt Trailer Support Strap, part # 18050 in order to reduce the overall stress that your hitch experiences. However, if the rack fails, the manufacturer likely will not honor the warranty if your bike exceeds the rack's stated weight limit.
Always be sure to check your vehicle and hitch's tongue weight (TW) capacity to ensure that you do not overload your hitch when doing so.
