Hello Jack,

Yes, you can absolutely lock it to the pedestal. If you are going with the Watchdog Power Center Surge Protector and Voltage Booster - Bluetooth and WiFi - 30 Amp # HU84ZR, I would use our etrailer Cable Lock - 10' Long - 5/16" Diameter - Steel - Keyed Alike # e98891 to wrap around the handle and then secure it to the pedestal. I’ve attached an image a neighbor (customer) sent in showing how they ran theirs around the handle.

What adventure are you looking forward to most this camping season? Where are you headed, and what are you most excited to see?

Thank you for getting back to me. Is that handle plastic or metal? Also, I would assume that it would be good to cover that search suppressor if it was going to rain. Thank you, Jack

@JackC My pleasure Jack! The handle is a heavy-duty molded plastic (high-impact polymer). I look at any lock as a theft deterrent, unfortunately we live in a world that if someone really wants to take it, they will find a way. But having the deterrent usually makes them move onto something else. You don’t have to cover it, it’s made to handle rain, but honestly it’s still a good idea. The unit itself is weather-resistant, but the plug connections are the weak spot, so if it’s sitting in rain a lot or water is pooling around it, that’s when problems start. Most people just throw a bucket over it or tuck it under something, nothing fancy, just enough to keep it from getting soaked all the time.
