I checked an online version of the owner's manual about flat towing for your 2017 Ford Fiesta and although I didn't find anything in there about a mileage requirement before flat towing, it is good practice to get at least 500 miles on a new vehicle before doing anything to or with it. This gives the vehicle a chance to break-in. The manual does say to put about 300 miles on new tires so I recommend going on a little road trip before flat towing your Fiesta.

To flat tow your Fiesta you will need the following; a tow bar, safety cables, base plate kit, vehicle tow bar wiring, a supplemental brake system, and possibly a high-low adapter.

One of the most popular tow bars that we carry is the Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar # RM-520. This is rated for 6,000 lbs and will easily be able to safely pull your Fiesta. For safety cables with the same weight capacity you can use part # RM-643 which are coiled to help keep them from dragging on the ground.

For a base plate kit I recommend going with the Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate Kit # RM-524438-4 which is confirmed to work with the Falcon 2.

To add tow bar wiring to your Fiesta I recommend using the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit # RM-154. If your Fiesta has an automatic transmission then you will want to install the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect # RM-766 to make disconnecting and reconnecting your battery effortless.

Since most states now require that a supplemental brake system be used for flat towing (and since it makes the setup more safe) I recommend installing the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # SM99251. This is one of our most popular braking systems because after the initial setup there is not much you have to do to get it ready for flat towing. If your Fiesta has an automatic transmission and your brake lights do not illuminate when the vehicle is off or the ignition is in the "tow" position you will need to install the Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751450.

To ensure that your flat towing setup is level you may need to use a high-low adapter as well. I have attached link to our selection of high-low adapters as well as a helpful article that will give you more information on how to choose the correct one for your application.

You will want to make sure to follow any specific instructions on flat towing (could also be under recreational towing) in your copy of the owner's manual.
