The website is showing that the TH910XT is not compatable with the 2016 Fusion. I find this hard to believe since the trunk is not much different in shape and size of many other makes and models. Can you confirm if it would fit or not?

We do not list any trunk mount bike racks as a fit for the 2016 Ford Fusion. They have deemed the attachment points on the vehicle are not suitable to mount their products. But there are trunk mount bike racks that you can use with the vehicle.
For a single bike, we have the option of the super sweet SeaSucker Komodo # 298-BK1910-BK. However, this rack is quite costly.
My recommendation for you is to get a hitch # C12091 or the # 306-X7239 installed on your Fusion. Then you could use a bike rack like the Thule Camber # TH9058.
