Question:

The Thule T2 Pro XTR 69tx installation instructions require a minimum distance of 1.5inch from the center of the hitch pin hole to the face of the receiver. This distance on a 4Runner comes in at around 1.25. How do you modify the hitch to use this bike rack? Would a hitch extender, like the Blue Ox reconcile this issue, or is the T2 simply incompatible with Toyota OEM hitches? Thank you.

You can use a hitch extender like the Blue Ox # BX88265 or the etrailer # e88YR. This will reduce the tongue weight capacity of your hitch by 50 percent when using an adapter, but your hitch should be sturdy enough for this not to be an issue with the Thule T2 Pro XTR # TH96TX for 2 or 4 bikes or the # TH83JV for 2 bikes. This will make your hitch compatible with your bike rack.

There is currently not an option available from our manufacturers for replacing the OEM hitch.
