Hauling e-bikes or cargo rigs is easy with the Thule Epos. It supports up to 160 lbs total and 75 lbs per bike for one or two bikes, so heavy electric bikes and full-size builds ride steady. The platform rack design holds up to 3 bikes, and the aluminum and ABS body keeps weight down to 51.4 lbs while staying corrosion resistant. Whether you're carrying light road bikes or a pair of 68-lb e-bikes, the load stays balanced and secure.
No two bikes are the same, and this rack makes that a non-issue. The telescoping masts have padded, rotating heads with ratchet straps that can grip either the frame or rear wheel, so carbon frames, step-throughs, fenders, and kids’ bikes all fit without adapters. Grooved wheel trays handle anything from narrow 18c road tires up to 3-3/16" wide rubber, with optional straps for fat tires. With a maximum wheelbase of 53-1/8" and 9-13/16" between bikes, even mixed setups fit cleanly without tangled bars or pedals.
You don’t need to unload to grab gear. The spring-loaded foot pedal tilts the rack down even when all three bikes are on it, keeping your hands free to steady the load. The pedal sits up front, so there’s no reaching around frames or lifting weight one-handed. It’s a simple design that makes quick stops or trailhead prep faster and safer.
Getting the Epos on or off the vehicle is straightforward. The SnugTite hand-tightening lever secures the shank tool-free and deploys an anti-rattle wedge that locks out hitch noise. When off the vehicle, the trays fold up, the masts telescope down, and integrated wheels and a handle let you roll it instead of carrying it. Compact storage and easy mobility mean the rack fits your space as well as your bikes.
Every ride deserves peace of mind. The Epos comes with Thule’s One-Key System locks on both the telescoping masts and the hitch lever, so bikes stay locked to the rack and the rack stays locked to the vehicle. Each lock is keyed alike for simplicity. Optional add-ons, like the ABUS cable lock or LED tail light kit, extend security and visibility when you want extra protection on the road.

I appreciate the honest take! I'm with you on that point David - It would be super nice in those scenarios where you're in tight spaces especially! We actually have Thule here on campus this week - I might bring up your feedback and just let them know the want is out there :)
