Location of Trailer Brake Controller Port on a 2007 Toyota Tacoma with Factory Tow Package

Question:

I have a 2007 Tacoma 4 x 4 with the factory tow package. I followed the guidance you provided for the owner of a 2010 Tacoma but still cannot find the unconnected connector you said was likely left of the brake pedal. What panels were you suggesting he might have to remove first to locate the wiring? Thank you.

I have included photo that shows the location of the brake controller port on a 2007 Toyota Tacoma. We have not had a 2007 model that had a tow package to determine the plugs exact location for that model year. According to my contacts at Tekonsha, the connector will either above the emergency brake pedal, or behind the kick plate panel to the left of the emergency brake pedal. The connector will be white in color, and should have a white tag on the wire harness leading to it.

When you do find the harness, make sure that you also attach the separate white ground wire to a clean and corrosion free bare metal surface so the brake controller will function properly.
