Recommended Fifth Wheel Hitch for 2003 Ford F-150 Supercrew with 5-1/2 Foot Bed

Question:

I have a 03 ford f150 supercrew with a 51/2 ft bed. I would like to tow my 5th wheel trailer with it. would one of your slider hitches work for this? If so what type would you recommend?

I confirmed that the Curt Universal Rail Kit # C16100 will work with your 2003 Ford F-150 Supercrew. This will give you industry standard rails in your truck bed to install a fifth wheel hitch.

With a 5-1/2 foot bed you're going to have clearance issues between the truck's cab and the trailer when making turns. Usually a sliding hitch will fix this. The problem with such a short bed is many sliding hitches will make contact with the truck's tail gate. Because of this the best solution is a fixed hitch with a Sidewinder pin box. A Sidewinder moves the pivot point of the king pin back 22 inches. If you can tell me the model number of your pin box I'll be happy to find the correct Sidewinder for your trailer.
