Trailer Left Side Lights Not Working with 2010 Chevy Colorado But Work Fine on Another Truck
Updated 02/16/2017 | Published 02/15/2017 >
Question:
My Chevy Colorado has a towing package. The drivers side lights on my trailer dont work. They do work on my other vehicle, so it seems to be the Colorado. Do your products bypass the factory converter box and make a new line to the 7-pin round plug?

Expert Reply:
The wiring harnesses for the 2010 Chevy Colorado plug in line with the factory tail light wiring harness so they do bypass the tow package wiring system on the vehicle. But before going that route the problem might be more easily fixed. We just have to figure out where the problem is coming from.
The most likely culprit is a dirty or corroded trailer connector on the truck. Make sure that the factory connector on the truck is clean and free of corrosion inside, where the wires attach, and outside on the pins. I had a friend with a truck with a corroded connector and the running lights just would not work until we cleaned it out with a wire brush.
You can also inspect the wiring to the connector and fix any damaged or pinched wires that may be causing this issue.
