Question:

I want to replace a trailer hub on a very old trailer. it is a 1.25 square axle. 61 inches long hub to hub. The hub on it is a dexter 8-81A. other numbers on the hub are 1731 and MTA 3 can you tell me which of your assemblies would replace this?

I reached out to my contact at Dexter regarding the numbers you gave. They couldn't match anything and suggested that you most likely have a 8-91A, which is a 4 on 4 bolt pattern. That is a very basic trailer hub assembly and the replacement part is # 8-91-05UC1. This assembly comes with the L44643 bearings, the grease seal, the lugs and the grease cap.

I'd suggest a bearing packer like # PTW1218 and the Industrial Strength Grease # L11390.

Jason, The product you linked (# 8-91-05UC1) shows it has L44649 bearings not L44643 bearings. Do you offer a product with the 8-91A hub with L44643 bearings? I was looking at item # AKIHUB-440-2-EZ-1K is it a match?
